Additional Nutrients:
Taurine – one of the sulfur amino acids is known to play an important role in vision, the brain and nervous system and cardiac function. Taurine is extremely important in cats as it primarily comes from muscle meat sources, clams, oysters and some fish. High carbohydrate diets were shown to cause widespread blindness in kittens and dilated hearts in adult cats. Although taurine does not appear to be as important in dogs, under certain conditions of high stress or in disease states the need for taurine increases and should be supplemented.
L-Carnitine – L-Carnitine is used by the body to transport long chain fatty acids to the cells where they are burned for energy. Deficiencies in L-Carnitine produce low energy levels, muscular weakness, mental confusion and weight gain. L-Carnitine works synergistically with Chromium to help regulate glucose levels and strengthen an animal’s ability to burn fat, decrease fat stores and build new muscle.
Inositol - Recent advances in nutritional and biochemical research have documented inositol as an important dietary and cellular constituent. Biochemical functions include the regulation of cellular responses to external stimuli and/or nerve transmission as well as the mediation of enzyme activity through interactions with various specific proteins. Inositol has been reported to be useful as an analgesic or mild pain reliever.
Vitamin C and Bioflavonoids – are part of the team of vitamins and minerals needed to provide the dog and cat with protective anti-oxidants that help suppress free radical inflammatory attacks on cells.
Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium – are powerful probiotics that work with the normal flora (good bacteria) of the gut to suppress the pathogenic (harmful) bacteria.
Fructooligosaccharides – a unique nutrient found naturally in fruits, vegetables and grains. Backed by over 50 clinical studies, FOS has been shown to increase, balance and maintain beneficial bacteria, such as bifidobacteria and Lacobacillus, to offer optimum gastrointestinal support.
Glucosamine – A precursor of Chondroitin sulfate, a primary Glycosaminoglycan (mucopolysaccharide) responsible for joint lubrication, shock absorption and routine maintenance of articular cartilage. Absent in most diets, this ingredient works to help prevent inflammation and joint disease.
Glycomarine™ – a highly proprietary natural marine product with over 30 years of research and evaluation to support it’s function in providing relief from pain and restricted mobility.
Glycomarine has been show to provide the following benefits:
- Aids joint health by inhibiting the deterioration of cartilage
- Aids joint mobility by improving joint lubrication
- Inhibits inflammation and swelling and reduces joint pain
- Is gastroprotective (stomach friendly)
- Protects against and reduces injury damage in athletic dogs
